THE WORLD NEEDS WHO YOU WERE MADE TO BE

Today marks the our first full year in business as Flower Love Child, it’s been the most creatively fulfilling year I’ve ever experienced. As I’ve mentioned before I walked away from one business in favour of creating another. I’ve never been happier about taking that risk & if anyone is out there needing a bit of a push, here it is....

THE WORLD NEEDS WHO YOU WERE MADE TO BE

"Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way." - Edward De Bonos

— Designers / Artists / Creatives : STOP designing what you think will sell, & don’t compromise your skills for Commerciality. Making as much profit as possible from your work will not bring any semblance of satisfaction. I have been in both places, I’ve done work purely to make money, I’ve designed prints & products that were not to my taste. The money you make doesn’t compare to creatively communicating your personal vision, taste or aesthetic.

"Creativity is seeing what everyone else has seen, and thinking what no one else has thought." - Albert Einstein

— Take the risk and design for YOURSELF, answer your own brief, your people, your followers, your customers will find you (eventually) and that means so much more than communicating something to the world that doesn’t fully represent your story. Your customer’s will like your work because it SPEAKS to them, not because it’s a ‘must have print’ like that fucking Rappers Delight print I designed 🙃

"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see." - Henry David Thoreau

— Don’t compete with other artists, in fact don’t even waste your time looking at what they’re doing, after all comparison is the thief of joy. There’s enough room for everyone’s individuality, creativity & skill. What works for them won’t work for you. Instead invest your time in yourself, in familiarising with your talents, your handwriting.

Remember, one of the reasons you're on this planet is to follow your dream and fulfil your soul purpose. Nobody else can do that for you. I hope you realise your unique talents, whether you choose to share them with world or not is your decision, but always be proud of the gifts you have been given as no two people share the same talents and skills. You're here to use those gifts, please use them sooner rather than later.
